Louis Chenevert A Technology Giant For All Ages
Louis R. Chenevert is a successful Canadian businessman and entrepreneur who served as a Senior Industry Advisor at the Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division from 2015 to 2017. Louis led their divisions into business transactions involving the aerospace/industrial field. In 1993 Mr. Chenevert worked at the prominent United Technologies Corporation/Pratt and Whitney Canadian division. At the Pratt and Whitney division he served as the COO from 1999 to 2006. In 2008 Louis Chenevert was chosen as the CEO of United Technologies Corporation and in 2010 he also became its Chairman.
Mr. Chenevert had an earlier 14-year career at General Motors as its General Production Manager. In a recent interview Mr. Chenevert spoke about one of his jobs he had at General Motors and what he learned from it. Louis said that he oversaw a first line assembly plant as a supervisor. He said that he learned how important it is to listen to the workers. Workers understand a lot more about productivity and how to solve problems than many managers. Louis said he always remembered that lesson and for the next 37 years, that principle served him well.
Louis R. Chenevert graduated from the Universite de Montreal, Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Monsieur Chenevert has many accomplishments accorded to his name. He has been inducted into the Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, he was a recipient of an Honor Award from the National Building Museum, the Aviation Week and Space Technology Magazine named him Person of the Year, and he received an honorary doctorate from HEC Montreal.
Louis Chenevert has received aviation awards because under his aegis at United Technologies Corporation, he was responsible for acquiring Goodrich Corporation and merging it with Hamilton Sundstrand to create United Technologies Corporation Aerospace Systems. United Technologies is a preeminent technology firm in different industries like jet engines by Pratt and Whitney, Otis Elevators, and the manufacturers of the Black Hawk military helicopters. Mr. Chenevert says that he is successful because he has always had the right team of people around him. He stated that you are only as successful as your team.
